Award-winning WWT Slimbridge offers an unforgettable day out for families, birdwatchers and wildlife lovers.

Slimbridge’s mosaic of pools, lagoons, reed beds and meadows provide a haven for diverse wetland wildlife. Look out for marvellous mammals such as water voles and harvest mice and discover some of the world’s most spectacular ducks, geese, swans and flamingos.
 
For those who are interesting in getting out to the wild parts of the reserve, take a walk to one of the many bird hides or explore the fully accessible Estuary Tower and take in the stunning sights of the Severn Estuary.
 
There is plenty to see and do inside and out all year round.

Each day at WWT Slimbridge

Here are some of the activities which take place and exhibits you can explore throughout the year at WWT Slimbridge Wetland Centre.
 

• Wild Safari: During the summer months go out into the wild reserve in the company of an expert warden & enjoy views of the wild birds that live on the banks of the Severn – all from the comfort of a seat in the covered trailer. Please wear sturdy footwear & warm protective clothing especially during cold & or wet days. Weather Dependent.
• Toad Hall: Meet the colourful amphibians living in Toad Hall; including frogs, toads, newts and salamanders from all around the world.
• Art Gallery: Enjoy a stroll through Slimbridge’s art gallery featuring different local artists each season.
• Canoe Safari: From spring time grab a paddle and spot wildlife from the water on a fun canoe safari trail.
• Artic Adventure: Visit the Arctic Adventure exhibit and imagine life on the Arctic Tundra, where WWT studies wildlife including Bewick’s swans. 
• Mission Possible: Meet the nene, the world’s rarest goose! Explore a Hawaiian landscape and learn how WWT founder Sir Peter Scott brought this species back from the brink of extinction.
• Wetland Heroes: Download the family friendly app 'Wetland Heroes' to unlock the secrets of Slimbridge to become a wetland hero.
• Scott House Museum: Take a step back in time as you enter Sir Peter Scott’s home where he championed the cause of worldwide wildlife conservation through growing the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust (WWT) and set up the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

Opening times for 2022

Because there is always something to see and do, WWT Slimbridge Wetland Centre is open 7 days a week, 364 days a year. Only closed to the public on 25 December. Christmas Eve 9.30am to 3pm (last admission 2.30pm)

February & March
9.30am to 5.00pm (last admission 4pm);
April - October
9.30am to 5.30pm (last admission 4.30pm). 

As there is a lot to see and do we recommend you ensure that you arrive sufficiently early so your visit isn't rushed.

Guide dogs and dogs at Slimbridge

Trained assistance dogs wearing the appropriate branded jacket and lead/harness, and where possible with the accompanying ID card are welcome. Unfortunately dogs in training are not permitted on site, and visitors need to call ahead if visiting with an assistance dog on 01453 891200.
Please note that all other dogs are not permitted within the grounds. Dog owners should ensuring that dogs are not left in unoccupied cars at Slimbridge in warm weather conditions.
