Few historic houses can match Sudeley Castle & Gardens’ long, curious and fascinating history.
With royal connections stretching back over 1,000 years, Sudeley Castle has played an important role in England’s history, with visitors able to walk in the footsteps of kings and queens, including Richard III, Elizabeth I and Lady Jane Grey.
Sudeley is also the only private castle in England to have a queen buried within the grounds. The last of Henry VIII’s six wives, Katherine Parr lived and died in the castle. She is now entombed in a beautiful 15th century church found within the gardens.
Today, Sudeley Castle & Gardens is a much-loved family home as well as a popular visitor attraction with award-winning gardens.

Sudeley Castle’s magnificent gardens are world-renowned, providing variety and colour from spring through to winter. The centrepiece is the Queens Garden, so named because four of England’s queens – Anne Boleyn, Katherine Parr, Lady Jane Grey and Elizabeth I – once walked upon the original Tudor parterre upon which the garden is based features 80 variety of roses.
A highlight for many little lords and ladies during their visit will undoubtedly be the adventure playground complete with slides, climbing wall, zip-wire which, along with the maze, provides fantastic fun for all.

An abundance of colour can also be seen in the secluded East Garden, which is neighboured by St Mary’s Church. This is bordered by the White Garden, where Katherine Parr and her companion, Lady Jane Grey would have entered the church for daily prayers.
