Hillside Brewery land prestigious award!

The Gloucestershire Food & Farming award 2017 were held this year at the Centaur, at Cheltenham Racecourse. A night to celebrate the best of what Gloucestershire has to offer.
The award-winning Hillside Brewery were one of the three finalists for the big award of ‘Food or Drink Business of the Year’, alongside Gloucester Services and Kitchen Garden Foods Ltd. The judges were looking for a business to show real commitment to Gloucestershire, looking at use of local produce, local suppliers, innovative products & services, they were also keen to see a business plan that is sustainable and encourages growth.
Hillside Brewery support local producers in their shop with lots of products using their beer, from beer soap, to seasonal beer chutney alongside other local fruit wines, tea and much more. They even have an alcoholic beer ice cream made by Hillbrooks Luxury ice cream, whose cows have been raised on the spent gran from the brewing process, to then be milked and that milk is turned into ice cream using their beer – a true full circle product.
Having a current range of 7 beers and a craft lager most of them having won awards individually, including Over The Hill, their dark mild which was also in the finals for Best Drink Product’ at the awards night. They are dedicated to sustainable brewing, which is an energy intensive process. The whole site is completely run on ground source, air source and solar power – even being a net exporter of energy back into the grid making them completely green. To top this off they have a bore hole which is drilled 60m into the side of the hill to ensure a quality and consistent supply of water; if you get a good quality water you get a good quality beer.
Through a range of events throughout the year, brewery tours & brewing experience days (a prefect Christmas present for the beer lover in your life) and people they work with, Hillside Brewery are dedicated to quality, consistency and supporting local.
