A month of art at Hidcote

Hidcote Manor is set to play host to two very special art exhibitions this September. There will be an exhibition of paintings from Karen Bower, which were created during her time as the Artist-in-Residence at the manor. Inspired by Hidcote’s surroundings Karen’s work captures more than the visual beauty, they encapsulate the weather, the seasons and the mood of the subject. Her collection of paintings will appear within the courtyard chapel for two weeks from 6 September.
Also taking place during the same month will be an ‘open-air’ sculpture exhibition. Set in the 10.5 acres of Hidcote’s outdoor rooms, this diverse collection on sculptures will feature over 20 artists, displaying nearly 80 pieces of work. Running from 6 – 28 September, this exhibition is now in its fourth year and has steadily grown in popularity and scope.
Mike Beeston, General Manager for the National Trust property said: “Hidcote is regarded by many as a work of art in itself. But it also contains many pieces of art work, used to decorate the garden rooms which Lawrence Johnston created here. We are looking forward to seeing the work created by Karen, inspired by the colours and landscape which make up the garden. We are delighted also to once again be hosting the sculpture exhibition, which gives our visitors added interest and often delights with a thought-provoking perspective of the garden.”
Karen Bower’s exhibition of paintings runs from Saturday 6 – Friday 19 September, with access to the chapel during Hidcote’s normal opening: 7 days a week, 10am-6pm (last admission 5pm).
The ‘open-air’ sculpture exhibition runs from 6 – 28 September. Normal admission charges to Hidcote’s garden apply. The garden is open 7 days a week, from 10am - 6pm (with last admission at 5pm).
